At Ruh Care, we take your privacy and confidentiality very seriously.
Confidentiality for Minor Clients
For clients under the age of 16, parental or guardian involvement is often required for consent purposes. While parents or guardians are generally kept informed about the overall progress and treatment of their child, the specific details shared in therapy sessions typically remain confidential. This means that private conversations between the therapist and the minor are protected, except in cases where there is a risk of harm to the minor or others.
Confidentiality for Clients Aged 16 and Above
For clients aged 16 and above, confidentiality is maintained more strictly. Parents or guardians do not have automatic access to therapy messages or session details unless the client gives explicit permission.
Exceptions to Confidentiality
There are certain situations where confidentiality may be breached:
Risk of Harm: If the therapist believes there is a risk of harm to the client or others, they are obligated to take appropriate actions, which may involve sharing necessary information with parents, guardians, or authorities.
Legal Requirements: Specific legal circumstances may require the disclosure of information to parents, guardians, or other entities.
If you have any questions about confidentiality and your therapy messages, please contact our client care team at 1-416-639-5993 or [email protected]. We're here to help you understand your rights and ensure your privacy is respected.
